Copyright strike, what to do?

You receive a copyright strike. What does it mean? It means that you put online content that is not yours, which is not free of rights or without authorization. What you risk? The relevant video is deleted and you risk the closure of the channel if you accumulate three strikes.
What to do when you receive strike? First, do not consider yourself a victim of a conspiracy; this happens, but it’s still in the area of the exception. Avoid “why me” and do not delete your video from the Video Manager to keep your chance to rehabilitate intact.

Then, get into the details of the warning the channel name or the content owner and try to contact him, you have to try everything. How do you contact? Once you’re on the alleged owner of the channel, click the name of the channel (below one of his videos), then click Properties, you will find the information that displays a box to write your message. You can also contact this in the comments on his videos just to advise you without spreading on the details, because comments are public. Finally, it is also possible to contact the private, direct discussion on its pages on social networks related to its channel.

What to ask? Request the withdrawal of claims for violations of copyright explaining the reasons for using the content, and promising to remove yourselves the video once restored by YouTube. If he accepts, he will have a checkbox on the “withdrawal” of its Video Manager.

In conclusion, if the content subject of the complaint does not belong to you, and therefore you cannot challenge it; If your withdrawal request is denied, what to do?
You then need to check other videos in your channel and delete those involving the questionable content, not upload content that you created yourself or that you have permission, or royalty free. And this, at least during the 90 days, period after which automatically extinguishes a copyright strike.

Note that a copyright strike is completely different from a “Content ID”.
