How to use a free video rights?

You do not have the means or the passion or patience to create a video, but you can make an improvement to an existing work, make your taste or present to others in another different way with your footprint; you want to express yourself with ready-made images made by others that fit your needs. You are simply communicating by organizing content by subjects, by directly intervening to explain at the hearing your ideas by using content taken online. You create a YouTube channel for it, but you expose yourself to copyright strike  and Content ID claims. Do not be discouraged, you can achieve your dream by uploading videos under Creative Commons licenses.

First, it is best to have some knowledge, if that summary, the operation of Creative Commons.

There are authors or creators that want their content to be shared as widely as possible, and even reused under certain conditions. They then propose to the Creative Commons; a platform that is designed for the collection of these products, and to benefit other users without infringement of copyright.

Hundreds of millions of videos, images, writing and other works are then classified under Creative Commons licenses, according to the conditions of their true authors. Here are the details of this ranking:

1) The CC BY license allows you to modify the content and use it for commercial purposes, citing the name of its author.

2) CC BY-SA license allows you to modify the content and use it for commercial purposes, citing the name of its author. On top of that the resulting works of the changes need to be shared with others in the same conditions that you have benefited from.

3) CC BY-ND license allows you to redistribute the work for profit or commercial purposes, without any modifications. It will be broadcast in its entirety by attributing to the author and quoting his name.

4) CC BY-NC license allows you to modify the work, but do not use it for commercial purposes. The author’s name should be cited, but the new work can be distributed without being subject to the same conditions (that you have benefited from.)

5) CC BY-NC-SA license allows you to modify the work, but do not use it for commercial purposes. The author’s name should be cited, and the new work is distributed under the same conditions.

6) CC BY-NC-ND license only allows you to download and share the work, citing the name of its author. (No change, no use for commercial purposes.)

Also note that there is also the CC0 code indicating the works in the public domain.

Do not panic if there is confusion choose the least restrictive license to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Where is the content?

You go to the Creative Commons search site, here:

Choose the platform that you should, for example YouTube, and type what you are looking at the top right. A list of videos related to your search appears, choose the one that meets your needs, open it, go to its description you will find the words Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed).”

So you are on the right voice, use it as you wish, YouTube videos are under a CC BY license (you can change it, use it for commercial purposes, citing the name of the author of the original version).

By downloading the content of other sites to check the classification of the license to be obeyed.
